Please read all about the new young people that we’re delighted to support with grants to help them achieve great things in the sports they love.

Again we would like to thanks all or our followers, supports and fundraisers as without you all this wouldn’t be possible.

Arabella Sear-Watkins (Figure Skater)

Arabella is an 11 year old international figure skater and has so far competed in Latvia, Croatia,  Hungry,  France, and  Slovenia and spent the Easter holidays training in Russia.
Arabella is the youngest skater in Great Britain to have her level 10 test. She combines her figure skating training with Rhythmic Gymnastics ballet and school work. Arabella is now preparing for the British Figure skating championships at the end of this year.
Thank you so much Doing it for Dan your support will help towards  international training and competitions over the next 6 months.

Lily Thomas (Ballet)

“I really appreciate the support from Doing it for Dan and I am extremely grateful for the opportunities the grant will lead to. The support provided means that I can take part in extra dance lessons each week, furthering my education and progression in dance.”

Thank you again for the support. I really appreciate it.

Joshua Bailey (Squash)

Joshua is an 11 year old junior squash player who is currently ranked no.1 in Avon and no.2 in Wiltshire in his age category and trains up to four times per week in Chippenham and Bath.
He first started playing squash two years ago and has not looked back since. Last November Joshua was chosen to be part of the Wiltshire Junior Squash Academy and is currently the youngest player in his age category playing at county level.
The wonderful funding from Doing it for Dan will help pay for weekly individual coaching lessons and tournament entries which will both be invaluable in progressing Joshua’s squash and helping him reach his potential. Joshua’s ultimate dream is to one day represent England in the Olympics.

Harry Cunningham (Cross Country)

My name is Harry Cunningham and I am a 15 year old county and national athlete. I am a member of Swindon Harriers and have been part of the Wiltshire team at regional and national competitions. This summer I was selected to compete at English Schools National Track and Field Competition for 800m along with 15 of the best runners in the country.

At the end of this season I was ranked 25th  in England for 800m and I am the Wiltshire Champion for both 300 and 800m.

While track is my favourite discipline, I also compete in cross country. I am the current Swindon Schools Champion and competed for Wiltshire at the National Schools Cross Country in Leeds earlier this year.

I train 5 to 6 times a week and have recently stepped this up in order to work on my endurance as I move into U17s. This year my aim is qualify for English Schools again.

I am very grateful to be a funding recipient from Doing it for Dan; this will help with entry fees, as I plan on competing indoor this season, and equipment. Many thanks.

Megan Wright (Triathlon)

My name is Megan Wright and I am an Elite Triathlete competing for the South West in National competitions. I am 15 years old racing in the youth category.
In 2018 I finished 26th in the National Super Series and also won the London triathlon which was my most successful race this year.
I am a member of Chippenham Harriers, Chippenham Tristars and Chippenham ASC and I train 6 days a week juggling swimming, cycling and running. My favourite out of the 3 disciplines is running because it my strongest and the one I enjoy the most.
Many thanks

Jack Gunning (Cross Country)
Jack has made a huge improvement in his Sport of Athletics in a very short period , despite have a condition called Dyspraxia effecting his fine and gross motor skills,
His improvement last year resulted in a bronze medal at Wiltshire Schools Cross Country Championships, and selection at 2 National Events the prestigious English Schools Country Championships and the National Intercounty Championships.

Amelia Lavington (Hockey)

Amelia is 13 years  old, she has been a hockey goal keeper for 1 ½ years. Earlier this year she was nominated to the England Hockey Pathway to attend Avon Junior Development Centre and has since gone through to Avon Junior Academy Centre. Last year she started playing senior hockey playing for Bath Buccaneers Ladies 5 XI, this season she has also played for the Ladies 4 XI and Ladies 3 XI.  She trains three times a week in all weather! The funding from Doing it for Dan will go a long way to replace some of her goal keeping kit from junior to senior kit which will give her much better protection when playing for the Bath Buccaneers Ladies.

Ben Clarke-Leach (Ice Hockey)

Thank you so much for your grant, Ben is over the moon and is determined to make you proud.

Ben’s next trial for South West is on the 12th October in Cardiff and his next trial is the 26th in Sheffield followed by another South West tournament the next day.

Once again thank you for supporting Ben in his quest for the England U13’s team.

Zoya is going to compete as part of Team England at WKU World championship in Greece this month in traditional Korean forms and also sparing.
Although no one can predict the results she would like to do her best.
Massive thank you again and wishing you all the best.

William Kennedy (Athletics)

I have been competing nationally across the UK since the age of 14. I’ve won the Wiltshire County Club Championships every year since 2011 for both 100m and 200m and I currently hold the U15 Championship Record Best for 100m and 200m. I also won the Wiltshire Area Schools for seven consecutive years when I was attending school. I’ve also won the South West Inter Counties Championships in 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2018 for both 100m and 200m. I have represented Wilshire 7 times at the at the English Schools Athletics Track & Field Championships in both 100m,200m and 4 x 100m relay.

I’ve also competed at the England Athletics Age Group Championships and made it through the heats and semi finals to gain a spot in the final.

I’m lucky enough to have earned an Northern Ireland vest and Northern Ireland U20 at the Belfast International where England, Wales and Scotland were invited to bring their strongest teams to compete against one another. 2014 was a great year for me, I won the Northern Ireland Championships for U18 for 100m and 200m. It also put me in silver position in the U19 competition. In 2015 I was also to become a silver medalist in 100m and 200m in the U19 age category and finish in a bronze medal position in the senior 200m. I’ve competed in the Athletics Ireland Junior / U23 Championships and finished in 2nd to achieve a silver medal.

When it’s the indoor season, I focus on 60m. I had been the South West of England Champion when I was U20. I was also a 60m finalist in the All Ireland indoor Championships for 60m.
