Volunteers & Trustees

Doing it For Dan raises all its own funds with the help of selfless volunteers and amazing people doing crazy things for sponsorship – we couldn’t Support Children in Sport without that help, enthuiasm and encouragement.

The day to day running of the charity is undertaken by four trustees, they are:-

Helen Hancock
Helen HancockChair of Trustees and Dan’s Mum
Helen, alongside Daniel’s Dad Stuart and extended family, founded the charity in 2016 in Dan’s memory. Having watched Dan’s love of playing sport it seemed a natural choice to set up a charity that would help other children achieve their sporting ambitions.

Helen spearheads the charity. She is the ‘ideas’ person and keeps everyone else in the team busy! She is also a solicitor, Mum to Dan’s brothers Robbie and Noah and an expert gin-taster!

Claire Smart
Claire Smart
Claire is a close friend of Helen and her family – her son Callum was also Daniel’s best friend.

Claire works hard to ensure the charity admin is always up to date and is an integral part of the team providing lots of energy and ideas to move the charity forward. Claire makes the best lemon drizzle cake (which is always welcome at trustee meetings!) and probably has the biggest gin collection in Wiltshire.

Darren Dodd
Darren Dodd
Darren is a family friend with several years Trustee experience at Flourishing Together, a charity that helps the wellbeing of children and their parents.
Darren is sport mad and has raised money for many charities over the years including Sports Aid, supporting our future Olympians. He is excited to share his experience with DIFD and help local children achieve their sporting goals.
Graham Hancock
Graham Hancock
Graham is married to Helen and is our Marketing and PR guru. His energy is a fantastic asset to the charity and always makes sure we remember to have fun even when we are working hard. He loves all sports and although sadly his own competitive sporting days are over he is passionate about helping children to compete in the sport they love.
