Empowering young people to achieve their sporting dreams

Awarding grants to help children and young adults fulfil their sporting potential.

Our mission

More children than ever are struggling with their mental health and are doing less than the recommended amount of daily exercise. There is also a worrying increase in child obesity. We believe that encouraging children to become involved in sport from an early age is key to tackling these issues and helps increase confidence and self esteem.

At Doing it for Dan we are passionate about supporting young people to enjoy the benefits that come from being active and to achieve their sporting dreams. We aim to give young people in Wiltshire and its neighbouring counties greater opportunities to participate in sporting activities by helping to remove the financial barriers that some children face to taking part in sport.

We believe that every child deserves the right to access sport and fulfil their sporting potential.

Alex Davis, Doing It For Dan star

Doing It For Dan made it possible for me to play ice hockey

We are so grateful to Doing it for Dan for the financial support over the last few years which has made it possible for Alex to be part of the Swindon Wildcats Ice Hockey team.  As a single mum there is no way that I could have afforded this without your help. Doing it for Dan is an awesome charity and we feel absolutely blessed that you have helped Alex. We can’t thank you enough!

Abby Highes, Doing It For Dan star

Doing It For Dan made it possible for me to represent England

Without the past support from Doing it for Dan, for which I am hugely grateful, I wouldn’t have been able to compete at all the important/major events or have the right shoes and clothing for both events and training. Thank you so much for your ongoing support which has helped make it possible for me to represent England this year.

Eirlys Jones, Doing It For Dan star

Doing It For Dan helped me become an elite gymnast

For a sport where there is no central funding even at Elite/GB level, grants like this make a huge difference in so many ways. Eirlys was always very proud to have been a recipient and to honour the memory of Dan. The trustees have done a brilliant job. The huge number of grant recipients that have been helped by Doing It For Dan is phenomenal.

Toby Richardson, Doing it for Dan star

Toby can now play wheelchair rugby and is on the team GB youth development programme

Without the generosity of Doing for Dan Toby may never have been able to join team GB and make his dreams come true. We are eternally grateful for the support the charity has given us.
